This Privacy Policy describes how the Fridgy application collects, uses, and protects the personal data of its users.

By using the Fridgy application, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Who we are

The Fridgy application is operated by:

2. What data we collect

We collect only the data strictly necessary for the functioning of the application.

2.1. Account data

• email address
• username or display name
• authentication method (email/password or Google account)

2.2. Data entered by the user in the application

• products added to the application
• product expiration dates
• application settings (language, notification preferences)

2.3. Technical data

• tokens for push notifications
• technical identifiers required for the functioning of the application
• application usage data (screens visited, actions performed)
• session recordings of usage (interface interactions, without recording sensitive data such as passwords or payment details)
• device information (model, operating system, application version)
• device language and country

3. Purpose of data processing

The data collected is used exclusively for:

• creating and managing the user account
• providing the core functionalities of the application
• storing and managing the user's products
• sending notifications regarding product expiration
• technical functioning and security of the application
• improving the user experience

4. Legal basis for processing

Personal data is processed on the following legal grounds:

• performance of the service provided through the Fridgy application
• user consent
• legitimate interest in ensuring the security, stability, and proper functioning of the application

Where processing is based on consent, the user may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

5. Data storage and security

Personal data is stored on secure servers and protected through:

• restricted access
• appropriate technical and organizational measures
• encrypted communication (HTTPS)

We make reasonable efforts to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, destruction, or disclosure.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or transfer users' personal data to third parties for commercial purposes.

Data may be processed by trusted service providers solely for technical purposes such as:

• hosting services
• push notification delivery services (Expo, Apple, Google)
• AI-based text extraction services (Google Cloud Vision, Google Gemini)
• payment processing services (RevenueCat, Apple, Google)
• usage analytics and statistics services (Firebase Analytics by Google, PostHog)
• error and performance reporting services (Firebase Crashlytics)

Receipt images are processed through AI services (Google Cloud Vision, Google Gemini) exclusively for text extraction. Images are not permanently stored on our servers.

Premium subscription payments are processed through RevenueCat and Apple/Google. We do not have access to your card details.

These providers have access only to the data strictly necessary to provide their services and are required to maintain data confidentiality.

6.1. Analytics and session recording

To understand how the application is used and to continuously improve it, we use two analytics services:

Firebase Analytics (Google Ireland Limited)

Collects anonymous data about application usage:

• screens visited and actions performed
• feature usage frequency
• error and performance reports
• technical device information

Data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure in the European Union.

PostHog (PostHog Inc.)

Collects data about the user's interaction with the application, including session recordings. The recordings are similar to video materials showing navigation through the application, exclusively within the Fridgy app interface.

The recordings do NOT contain:

• password field contents (automatically masked)
• payment data (processed by Apple/Google in native dialogs, outside the application)
• content from other applications on the device
• camera or gallery images outside the application context

Only approximately 25% of sessions are recorded, randomly selected, to manage the volume of collected data.

Data is stored on PostHog Cloud infrastructure in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).

Opt-out

Users may request the cessation of analytics data collection and session recording by contacting us at contact@fridgy.org. We will process the request within 30 days, in accordance with GDPR.

7. Data transfers outside the European Union

Personal data is primarily stored in the European Union. Our service providers (Firebase, PostHog, RevenueCat) use EU infrastructure for primary data storage.

In limited situations, certain technical data may be processed by partner services outside the EU (for example, for certain Google or Apple operations). In such cases, we ensure that adequate safeguards for data protection are applied, in accordance with Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) or other mechanisms provided by GDPR.

8. Push notifications

The Fridgy application may send push notifications related to the user's products and expiration dates.

Notifications are:

• optional
• can be disabled at any time from the application settings or device settings

9. Data retention period

Personal data is retained:

• for as long as the user account exists
• until the user deletes their account

After account deletion, the data is permanently removed from our systems, except where applicable legislation requires certain information to be retained for a specified period.

10. Users' rights

Under data protection legislation, users have the following rights:

• the right to access their data
• the right to rectify data
• the right to delete their account and associated data
• the right to withdraw consent
• the right to request information regarding data processing

11. Account deletion

Users may delete their account directly from the application, in the settings section.

By deleting the account:

• all associated personal data is permanently removed
• access to the application is revoked

12. Changes to the privacy policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy.

In the event of significant changes, users will be informed through the application or by other appropriate means.

The date of the last update will be displayed at the top of the document.
